Through donations that the Foundation receives from generous people, groups and businesses, the MSJ Home purchased and/or supported the following initiatives this past year:
And so much more….
The foundation exists solely to replace and upgrade equipment and furnishings throughout Mont St Joseph Home through a Board approved priority Capital list. This list is very flexible as it needs to be for possible emergent situations i.e. A kitchen thermodine breaks down and needs to be replaced which is used by kitchen staff to keep food hot for meals. This piece of equipment would become a priority over any other capital item that has been deemed a priority. Mont St Joseph Home is currently 20 years old, these types of situations are becoming a very common occurrence which the Foundation helps financially sustain the burdens of the Home as they arise. With that maturity, this building and its equipment has many areas that will require attention, either ‘today’ and tomorrow. The reality is that most of these needs, if not all, must be addressed by our Foundation – and the generosity of our donors. Some of these needs may not be considered ‘glamorous’ but are legitimate needs that speak to the safety and comfort of every person who lives, works, volunteers or visits MSJ Home. The list of items below is an example of the improvements we will need to address within the next 5 years. The practical reality is that this list will grow as another day passes! Estimated costs of the list below easily exceed $1 million. Imagine!
